Meet the Board of Directors

Joe AllegraJoe Allegra  - General Partner of Edison Venture Funds

Joe Allegra is a General Partner of Edison Venture Funds. Prior to joining Edison Venture Funds, Mr. Allegra was a Co-Founder and CEO of Princeton Softech. Earlier, he was VP of R&D for Computer Associates, following its acquisition of Applied Data Research. He was Product Manager, led product support and headed R&D during 12 years with these enterprise software companies. He was a finalist for Ernst & Young’s Entrepreneur of the Year and received the NJTC Technology Supporter Award in 2003.

Mr. Allegra co-founded the Software Association of New Jersey and served as Chairman of the New Jersey Technology Council. Mr. Allegra also provided strategic consulting services to several technology companies.  Edison was an M5 customer long before investing. Mr. Allegra combines Edison’s extensive experience growing SaaS companies with his own experience as a successful software entrepreneur.

Mr. Allegra has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics & Computer Science from Rutgers University and an MBA in Information Systems from New York University, Stern School of Business.

Alan PatricofAlan Patricof  – Founder & Managing Director of Greycroft, LLC

Alan Patricof is the Founder and Managing Director of Greycroft, LLC, a venture capital firm headquartered in New York City. Prior to founding Greycroft in 2006, he was the Founder and Chairman of Apax Partners, Inc. During the past 40 years, he has participated in the financing and development of a large number of public and private companies.

In addition to serving on M5’s Board of Directors, Mr. Patricof is a Board member of TechnoServe, Trickle Up Program, National Foundation for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE), the Global Advisory Board of Endeavor, and the Initiative for Global Development (IGD) Leadership Council. He is also an Advisor to International Finance Corporation (IFC), a member of the World Bank. In June 2007, he was appointed to the Board of the Millennium Challenge Corporation by the President of the United States. From 1993 to 1995, he served as Chairman of the White House Conference on Small Business Commission.

Mr. Patricof lends the M5 team the network and knowledge of one of the most respected Venture Capitalists in the country.  Mr. Patricof holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance from Ohio State University and an MBA from Columbia University Graduate School of Business.

Edwin A. GoodmanEdwin Goodman  – Co-Founder & General Partner of Milestone Venture Partners

Edwin A. Goodman is the Co-Founder and General Partner of Milestone Venture Partners. Prior to founding Milestone in 1999, Mr. Goodman worked at Patricof & Co. (now Apax Partners) and then was with the U.S. office of Hambros, a London-based merchant bank. From 1970 through 1973, he managed WBAI FM, an educationally licensed, listener-sponsored FM radio station in NYC. Before managing WBAI, Mr. Goodman joined the Bedford Stuyvesant Development & Services Corporation in Brooklyn, NY in 1967 and became its Co-Chief Executive.

In addition to serving on M5’s Board of Directors, Mr. Goodman currently sits on the Board of Medidata Solutions, Inc. and SkillSurvey, Inc. He was an informal advisor and friend of M5 Networks for years before investing.

Michael B. Targoff Michael Targoff - CEO & President of Loral Space and Communications Inc.

Michael B. Targoff serves as Chief Executive Officer and President of Loral Space & Communications Inc. Mr. Targoff is Chairman of the Board of CPI International, Inc., a Director of ViaSat, Inc. and a Director of Leap Wireless International, Inc. He is also Chairman of the audit committee of LEAP and a member of the audit committee of CPI International. Furthermore, Mr. Targoff is also Chairman of the Board of Directors of three small private telecom companies. Prior to joining Loral in 1981, Mr. Targoff was a partner in the New York City law firm Willkie Farr & Gallagher.

Mr. Targoff has been involved with M5 Networks since its inception, and has worked with the team at two prior startups. He brings a Fortune 500 CEO perspective to the team.

Mr. Targoff has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Brown University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree from the Columbia University School of Law. He was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar and Editor of the Columbia Journal of Law & Social Problems.

Bill WagnerBill Wagner - Chief Operating Officer of Vocus, Inc.

Bill Wagner serves as the Chief Operating Officer of Vocus, Inc. Prior to joining Vocus, Mr. Wagner was Chief Marketing Officer at Fiberlink Communications. He also spent more than 10 years in marketing and sales leadership positions at AT&T.
Mr. Wagner has acted as an advisor to several technology companies. He is one of the most successful marketing officers in the SaaS world and has helped M5 develop profitable and scalable sales machines.
Mr. Wagner earned his Bachelor of Arts from Lafayette College and his MBA from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School of Business.

Daniel P. HoffmanDan HoffmanChief Executive Officer, M5 Networks

Daniel P. Hoffman joined M5 in early 2001 with more than 11 years of experience managing service providers. Prior to M5, Hoffman co-founded Global Internet Group where he served as President before selling the company to Asia Online,an ISP holding company based in Hong Kong. As Executive Vice President of Operations, Hoffman grew Asia Online to a major pan-Asian Internet services firm with over 1000 employees.

Previously, Hoffman advised management teams at several service providers including Interport Communications. Before that he ran operations at Education Loan Services, Inc. Hoffman graduated magna cum laude from Harvard College and received an MBA from the Wharton School of Business and a Masters of International Studies from the Lauder Institute at the University of Pennsylvania. In addition to his work at M5, Hoffman is the Board President of WIBO and was recognized as one of Crain’s New York Top Entrepreneurs.

Phillip Kim Phil KimExecutive Vice President, M5 Networks

Phillip Kim co-founded M5 in May of 2000. He oversees strategic carrier services, corporate development and planning. An Internet entrepreneur since 1993, Phillip was a co-founder of Interport Communications; one of NY’s first pioneering ISP’s. In addition to his CFO responsibilities, Phillip co-led Interport’s operations and technology division that enabled Interport to be recognized as the top-rated business-focused ISP in NY. After selling Interport to RCN, Phillip co-founded Global Internet Group serving as VP of Business Development and then at Asia Online based out of Hong Kong. Prior to his entrepreneurial endeavors, Phillip worked as an engineer for FactSet Data where he gained much of his technical service provider ethic. Afterwards, he was a financial analyst and project manager at Sithe Energies an energy company focused on co-generation, who at the time provided 10% of the electricity to NYC. Phillip graduated from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology with BS degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics.
